Listen to the most recent Right Here Right Now!
Our community panel on public workers will air at 5 pm, Friday, July 16, right after Headline News and a commentary by Will Durst. This show was recorded July 5 and will be available in archives for at least one month. Our panelists are:
· James Adams, a Bend Firefighter and the Central Oregon Labor Council delegate from International Association of Fire Fighters Local 939. James is officially off duty and covered by another firefighter while he is with us.
· Kristina Blair, a business employment specialist in the Oregon Unemployment Insurance Call Center in Bend. Kristina is a member of Services Employees International Union Local 503.
· Kevin Hill, Council 75 Representative with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
· Carolyn Clontz, a retired Bend teacher, current secretary and former president of the Bend Education Association.
Our community panel on Central Oregon media will air at 5 p.m., Friday, June 18, and will be available on archives starting June 19. Our panelists are:
· Jamie Christman, executive producer of “Talk of the Town,” COTV’s “town hall style program where we ask the questions that are on your mind.” Jamie grew up in eastern Oregon and Lodi, California—two regions that sparked her interest in people, cultures and communities.
· Barney Lerten, digital content director at NewsChannel 21 KTVZ. Barney has worked for United Press International in Portland and San Francisco, the Bulletin, and the unique website Bend.com. He’s been reporting news in Central Oregon since 1991.
· H. Bruce Miller, a semi-retired freelance writer who produces the Wandering Eye blog and column for the Source. Bruce has been a reporter for the Trentonian in New Jersey and at Newsday in New York, an editorial writer and columnist for the San Jose Mercury News in California, and managing editor at the Bulletin.
The Bulletin was invited to participate in KPOV’s panel discussion by and about our local media but declined. Dave Adams of KBND had planned to participate, but had a last minute emergency and was unable to do so.
Our community panel on sports aired Friday, May 21, 2010, and will be available on archives until June 19. Panelists are:
· Mike Ficher, former president of the KPOV board and deejay who actually still plays sports and coaches youth sports in Bend.
· Ellen Goldener, aka Dr. G, also a KPOV deejay, who can tell you just how much the Saints’ superbowl victory means to the city of New Orleans. Who dat?
· Phil Philiben, who used to own a sporting goods store in Bend, knows the origin of “March Madness,” and was thrilled when the Chicago Whie Sox won the 2005 World Series.
· Michael Funke, aka The Old Hippie, who wants to ban Phil Knight from college sports and admits he kind of spaced out and doesn’t remember much of what happened in baseball between 1966 and 1969.
Tune in to the KPOV archives for a stimulating panel discussion on sports.
